All human beings have one and the same nature it is power and culture that mislead us
Baruch Spinoza (1632-77)

The British Institute of Contemporary Economic and Political Studies was established in 1998 to provide independent socialist analyses of national and international developments. Its work is guided by the principles of economic and social justice, democratic control, and internationalism. In applying these principles, clearly and rigorously, BICEPS stands in opposition to the dishonesty, mystification and narrow self-interest that characterise the dominent consensus among opinion-formers in Britain and in other advanced capitalist states. Our activities are necessarily collaborative: accordingly, all comments, criticisms and suggestions are welcome.

BICEPS seeks to develop collaboration and discussion across the socialist left - both in Britain and beyond. We welcome comments and constructive criticism in relation to our existing publications and also suggestions for future pamphlets. There is no restriction on what we publish, beyond an agreement with our basic principles. If you would like to submit an outline for a pamphlet, we will be happy to consider it.
