Posted on March 18, 2009

Agencies are reporting that there is a fire in the Special Immigration and Appeals Commission building in London.

The fire is in the Immigration and Appeals Commission building. No-one is trapped inside.

A fire service spokesman said: “There are reports of cylinders involved in the fire.

“We believe the roof area was under refurbishment.”

Twelve fire engines are attending the blaze.

The building is part of the network of immigration prisons and courts with powers to imprison without trial and deport people who have committed, or been convicted of, no criminal offence.
