U Win Tin Freed

Agencies report that Burma’s longest serving political prisoner, journalist and dissident U Win Tin, along with six other political prisoners, has been freed in an ‘amnesty’ calculated to cool potential unrest during the first anniversary of the Burmese junta’s murderous suppression of pro-democracy protests.
